about

The pool

The Pool is an online community for artists and art professionals. Artists can share their practice, build their network and share experiences. Art professionals can find new talent, contact and collaborate with artists and participate in group discussions. In the build up towards Springboard Art Fair, The Pool will be used as a selection tool. All artists who create a profile on The Pool are eligible to be selected for Springboard Art Fair.

You can browse profiles, connect with different artists and art professionals and participate in group discussions on the forum. Talk with new talent from all over the country, discuss practice and share experiences. Show your work and inspire others. Notify others of exhibitions, lectures, events.

This is not the purpose of the platform.

All artists with an autonomous practice who graduated from art academies and post-academic education in the Netherlands in the years 2019, 2020 and 2021. Additionally we invite art professionals active in the Netherlands.

Unfortunately not. Artists who graduated in 2022 had the chance of a graduation show without the restrictions by the covid pandemic. However, after Springboard Art Fair, we will open the Pool’s doors to all autonomous artists.

Unfortunately not. The Pool is focused on people with an autonomous art practice.

Artists are people who have an autonomous art practice with ambitions in pursuing a professional career in the art field. Art professionals are cultural workers such as curators, critics, gallerists, museum staff or art writers.

Depending on what your primary goal is in participating on The Pool you have to choose between the two roles. As an artist you have more room to present your work and practice on your profile; as an art professional you can interact with artists without showing your own practice.

If you want to change your role on the platform you can contact the admins by sending an email to members@thepool.art.

Click ‘sign up’ and fill in all the required fields. You receive a confirmation link per email, which may end up in your spam folder. After confirming your identity you can fill out the rest of your profile and images of your practice. Your profile will be visible after an admin has checked and approved your identity. In the meantime you can check out the community pages and join the forum.

You can add images to your profile with the gallery functionality. Go to your profile, click on ‘Gallery’ and click on the grey button on the right side named ‘Create Album’. You can add multiple images to each album and create multiple albums.

Fellow members of The Pool. If you are not happy with what you shared, you can always delete your content or account.

The Pool asks to verify your phone number and email address. The admins will monitor suspicious behavior on The Pool. No catfish are allowed in these waters.

If you sign up for The Pool before the end of March, you might be selected by a coach for Springboard Art Fair

about

springboard

Springboard Art Fair is a one time only special art fair, funded by Mondriaan Fund and Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds. We offer an art fair for artists who missed the full graduation experience. Springboard is an initiative by This Art Foundation.

The fair will take place 8-11 June at De Werkspoorkathedraal in Utrecht.

You can purchase a ticket as of 1 May.

If you want to take part in the fair you can make a profile on The Pool. 25 Coaches select a total of 120 participants out of all profiles on the platform. Are you selected by multiple coaches? Then we match you with the coach that best suits your profile!

In order to get selected for the fair you have to make an artist profile. You can delete your profile after the selection procedure.

We will let you know by 12 April at the latest.

Yes, the terms are binding. If you have made a profile and if a coach selected you, you are expected to participate.

Participation in the fair is free of charge. Artists will receive a working budget to get them started. Springboard pays all participants a fee of € 200,- + VAT.

Of course! Also, all proceeds of sales are for you!

The coaches will select the participating artists for the fair. They will scout artists in The Pool. Under Art Professionals you will find who the coaches are. The coaches also work with you in the weeks leading up to the fair. Together you develop an exhibition design.

As a participant you decide together with your coach and fellow coaches how you present your work. A traditional U-shaped booth? A group expo? A presentation of sculptures without walls? Many things are possible, together you decide.
